In 1975 for the first time the team played in the Swedish serial system.
Assyriska club was founded 1971 by Assyrian immigrants from Mesopotamia, Middle-east. The Club started a football team who got to play in the lowest amateur league. In 1975 for the first time the team played in the Swedish serial system.
Slowly by slowly the team started to advance in the divisions with some stagnation during 1985 and 1989 as the team for five successive years played in divison 4.
As from 1990 the team started to become more succesful. In the same time the club decided to develop the youth football. The team quickly advanced further in the series and the peak was when Assyriska made it to 2nd highest division in 1992 as the first foreign club in the world to advance to that level. Assyriska had from this day written themselves in the history books. The year 1993 was also historic as they were regulated to the 3rd highest division for the first time
Several factors has to be considered to why Assyriska are successful. Goal-oriented, focus and through the help of the people, good harmony with offensive and technical football is Assyriska''''s unique thinking. The massive support from the fans and spectators is also a great contributor to the success.
Behind the success lie also the contribution and the energy of very loyal and faithful members of the board who has throughout this time sacrificed lots of time and energy for Assyriska.
Assyriska has during almost 30 years have had long distance goals to succeed and establish the club as Södertälje''''s team, where people, despite their origin, ethnicity, color, language and religion can feel and are welcome in the club.
With pride we can say that Assyriska not only in sports are succesful. The club is also involved in questions of integration. Assyriska is talked about throughout Europe for this. Together with the community and other clubs Assyriska has contributed to the well being of the the people of Södertälje. Not at least for the youngsters.
After the European governments decided to put extra effort to solve the problems with segregation and integration. Assyriska has started a project together with EU. Assyriska is therefore one of the first clubs who takes the initiative to run this process of integration, thus making Södertälje famous in Europe.
>From a historical perspective the success of Assyriska is regarded, in Sweden and the rest of the world, a natural way of socialize and to get a strong identity and to adapt to the society they live in.
Both the first generation Assyrians and secong generation Assyrians suffers a crise of identity. Social, cultural and sports clubs has a significant role in this. This is where Assyriska can play an important role.
Assyriska Club has today a well established youth football section with 25 teams, with the range of ages between 7-27
